The Faces of Soleae

The Faces of Soleae (family)

At Soleae, we are fighting for sustainable agriculture that respects the environment it operates in, aiming for socio-economic development in such a delicate area as a Natural Park, while seeking an alternative to intensive production and food industrialization in order to offer a healthy and high-quality product.

The Soleae project was born in 2008, led by two entrepreneurs: María Hernández, a Biology graduate, and Jesús Ángel Blanco, a farmer. They combined their experiences to develop an innovative project in a declining rural environment, where current trends are leading to the disappearance of the agri-food sector in the mountainous region where we are located.

The spirit that drives us is deeply tied to sustainable rural development, within an economic framework that allows us to take advantage of natural resources in a way that is in harmony with the environment.

Our Spirit

The Spirit of SOLEAE can be summed up in a few words:

“TRADITIONAL and FAMILY AGRICULTURE for SUSTAINABLE RURAL DEVELOPMENT with QUALITY as a principle.”
  • Traditional and Family Agriculture: because a sustainable agricultural model, both environmentally and business-wise, is one that is in solidarity with the environment, and the family connection ensures the generational continuity we have lost. We must use sustainable environmental practices, and also revive traditional methods, such as terracing, along with the recovery of centuries-old olive groves of our native varieties and their uniqueness.

  • Sustainable rural development: Sustainability doesn’t just refer to how we farm; it’s also about maintaining farming practices over many years—socially, environmentally, and economically.

  • Quality: producing healthy and high-quality foods is the only option that allows such special products, so closely tied to their environment, to stand out for their qualities and not for their price.

Thus, SOLEAE was born with the aim of completing the entire production cycle, from the cultivation of the olive tree in the land to the distribution of the resulting oil to the consumer.

Only in this way can we ensure a single standard throughout the production process, with SOLEAE being a guarantee of quality.
